What’s the best tip you have when stopping smoking?

I’m not to keen on this idea but am doing it for my boyfriend. I have quit before for 9 months but slipped up due to a really angry day! (I didn’t know what else would chill me out)! and now have been smoking for 2 months again but have stopped today.

I’m a recovered alcoholic but while our addictions may be poles apart, the principles are exactly the same, firstly that you want to do it.

To stop alcoholics from relapsing apart from other parts of our program, we look at all the benefits of giving up and add those to the consequences of not.

Alcoholics are taught, never take the first drink, so never take the first cigarette.

As with alcoholics, your addiction will continue to get worse and affect all those around you.

Good luck! I gave up on budget day, not this one, but the one when cigarettes went up to five shillings a packet (25p). I haven’t bought one since.

Help stop smoking tips, pics, ect. For office.?

There are 8 people in my office at work, 6 are smokers. One was just hospitalized for smoking related issues. We all decided to quit together. I was looking for something online to help us all out. I’m looking for motivational things such as; Pictures, tips, anything that would help us out. Thanks.

stopping smoking is not somewhere outside.. i for instance is a smoker.. i have been smoking for 5,6 years,… and i just left smoking as i had a real fear of death in my mind.. i stopped smoking from august 2008 and till this april 3rd i was not smoking at all.. and this happened on 4th of april.. i was having adrink with my friend.. and he offered me a smoke.. which i wud generally avoid.. earlier.. accepted that day.. and i started smoking as if i have never left smoking…

so smoking s not a habit as people think.. it is only an event.. if you want to stop smoking .. dont think about it.. and when you really have the urge to smoke.. just say yourself this one time "i willNOT smoke."

i was able to stop smoking just because i really had the fear of succumbing to cancer…..

so it is all in your mind.. your mind can do what is good for you if you really think you must do it!

be strong in your mind.. think of the negative things you would end up with if u continued smoking..

1.avoid places where u smoke.. like a smoking joint..
2.avoid persons who will encourage u to smoke..
3. tell every one you know that" U HAVE STOPPED SMOKING " this will make ur ego understand that if u smoke again that thall the words of all those who laughed at you saying "u can never" true, correct..

That is to surround yourself around people who don’t smoke.

Studies have shown people become the average of the 5 closest people in their lives.

That means if you are currently smoking a lot, that is because you surround yourself with people who smoke.

In order to DECREASE (or even totally get rid of) your smoking habit, you need to stop hanging out with the 5 current people and start hanging out with 5 new people in your life.

This is what I call your new “Top 5″. That will be your new list of people who don’t smoke. Make sure
these new 5 people hate smoking.

This will greatly influence you to smoke less and even not smoke at all.

For instance, if you are around people who smoke, you will end up smoking too much. But if you are
around people who don’t smoke, you won’t be tempted to smoke cigarettes or even cigars.

So get a sheet of paper and write down a list of 5 people you know who don’t smoke. And start hanging out with them more.

You will notice hanging out with non-smokers will influence you to get rid of your old smoking habit.

So stop buying Marlboro reds or lights or Camel filters or non filters or whatever! Stop buying cigarettes & set a quit date & write it down on a piece of paper!

Anyone got any stop smoking tips?

Hi, Im quitting smoking. I’ve smoked about 10-15 cigarettes a day since i was 14, im 22 now. I’m using patches and I havent smoked since Sunday night. It’s now 5.30pm on Tuesday in Ireland, so I’m doing pretty well.
I’m hoping you guys have some tips on how to stop smoking. I’m looking for original tips that you wouldn’t find on a regular ’stop smoking’ website, thanks a million!

I’ve smoked for 11 years, a pack a day, more when I’ve been drinking.

I made the decision a month ago to Stop! Ask your self why you want to quit. Write it down. Then ask yourself the benefits of quitting that pertain to you. (Health, Money, e.g. whatever that may be).

I quit a month ago yesterday, cold turkey, for me that’s the best way.

I printed out this list of "Things to Think of When Tempted" and stuck it on my fridge and my wall at work.

Your brain will tell you you want a cigarette. Tell it to "back off"!! and to think of something more constructive!
