Easy To Stop Smoking: How efficient is Hypnosis Therapy?

Many are of the opinion that hypnosis is a good way to help you quit smoking. On the other hand, there are a good number of people who are skeptical about the effectiveness of this as a sole therapy against the habit of smoking.

What is the truth?

The results from the quit smoking hypnosis therapy depend upon two major factors – (i) your own mental and physical condition, and (ii) the experience and expertise of the hypnotist. Both of these factors would heavily influence the outcome.

1. Your own condition – some people are easily hypnotized, while some people are resistant to it. Those who respond quickly are those who can benefit most out of the quit smoking hypnosis therapy. This is because they would be more receptive to it than those who are not easily hypnotized. You need to find out to which of the groups you belong before choosing this method.

2. The experience of the hypnotist – best qualifications do not always mean that the professional is the best. What makes the professional good (and best) is the experience – and the expertise he/ she gains through it.

Some hypnotists are better than others because they have more experience and are better prepared for any eventuality or hiccup in the therapy. Choose the professional who has the highest reputation in your particular field of interest, i.e. quit smoking hypnosis therapy.

Combining Methods to Ensure Success

quit smokingAs soon as you leave cigarettes you would experience withdrawal symptoms the degrees of which would vary according to the level of your addiction and nicotine dependency. Some of the withdrawal symptoms might cause depression, sleeplessness, sudden urges to gorge on food, etc. Having the family support you during this time is crucial to your success.

It would be a good idea to have a back-up plan and combine the quit smoking hypnosis therapy with adequate medication and support. In this way, even if the quit smoking hypnosis therapy is not one hundred percent successful you would still be able to beat the habit with the help of the other methods and the support you are enlisting.

Remember, there is no foolproof method to quit smoking available yet. In order to succeed it would be a good thing to combine a few compatible methods so that one would back the other and increase your chances for success.

natural remedies for depression?

i’ve been battling depression my whole life, and i can usually tolerate the symptoms without medication. i recently quit smoking (about a month ago), so my symptoms are getting a little unbearable. i was wondering if anyone knew of any natural or herbal remedies for depression. i can’t take st. john’s wort because i’m on the pill…does anyone know of anything else that works?

1. Exercise. Walk for 30 minutes as soon as you get out of bed in the morning every day for 3 weeks. It is best to have a set time to start, and don’t ask yourself if you feel like going, just go. Go by yourself and don’t take a radio/Walkman etc. After 3 weeks, if it has helped you will want to keep going.

2. Diet. Fresh raw vegetables, a balance of protein foods and complex carbohydrates are all important. Have a food preparation day once a week, then you don’t have to bother every day. A large amount of salad can be stored in the fridge and used each day, for example.

3. Supplements. B complex vitamins; extra 400 mcg Folic acid; essential fatty acids, particularly omega-3; magnesium; vitamin C.

4. Foods. Bananas, peas, sardines.

5. Herbs. A selection other then St John’s Wort includes ginkgo biloba, ginger, valerian, skullcap, passionflower and calamus root.

6. Relaxation. Yoga and meditation.

7. Art forms. Music, drama and visual arts.

8. Feng shui. Adjusting the balance between our emotional, spiritual and intellectual by way of Feng shui can be helpful.

9. Avoid. Fast foods, simple carbohydrates such as sugar, alcohol, artificial sweeteners, white flour products and caffeine.

10. Interaction with others may help. Try volunteer work

Does anyone have some tips to help me stop smoking?

I am trying to stop smoking without buying Nicorette or Commit. Does anyone know of anything that can help?

I’m in the same boat you are. What those pamphlets tell you is to recognize the triggers that make you want a cigarette. Big ones are being in the car and after meals for me. So I started by not smoking while driving, helped me cut down considerably. Now I’m working on the post-meal cigarette. So far I’ve come down from a pack a day to about a pack every 3-4 days. I guess the idea for me now is to pick a date on when I’m going to quit and stick to it.

Also try convincing yourself that cigarettes taste gross. That worked well for a friend of mine (but she also found out she was pregnant, so that helped a bit too!)

I also find that taking quick, sharp breaths when I feel a cigarette craving coming on help out a lot! I think it mimics the inhalation process of smoking (duh, because I AM inhaling…)

You can try thinking of the money and the health issues, but I never had any luck with them. I could always find a way to justify the need to buy another pack, and if I was that worried about the health issues (I know, I should be) I’d have quit already, or never started in the first place.

I also found that I had greater success if I kept it to myself that I was trying to quit. Typically I guess you’re supposed to tell everyone so you feel obligated to quit, but then I just felt like I was letting everyone down if I caved in, and that made me want to smoke more.

Obviously, you’ll have to figure out what works best for you. Just don’t give up!

Good luck to you!!!! :-D

What is the best stop smoking product that actually works?

What have you used in order to stop smoking that actually worked? Is there such a thing as a REAL product that works?

Well first and foremost I would never have been able to quit cold-turkey. Kudos to those it works for. I smoked 1 1/2-2 packs a day for 24 years and have now been smoke free for 5+ years. I don’t constantly think about it or crave it one bit despite that some ex-smokers say they do. And I’ll never pick the habit up again. Here’s what worked for me:

The most important thing was that I sincerely wanted to quit. I didn’t do it because I "should" or a doctor told me to. I was so determined that I was going to find a way and failure was not an option. That’s how bad I wanted it. And what encouraged me in the first place was that I sold my house and decided to only smoke outside while it was on the market. I was shocked to realize that that alone cut my habit down to about 1/2 a pack a day without experiencing any nicotine cravings. In other words–most of my smoking was "just because."

I used the nicotine patch and zyban–the most effective method at the time was to combine the two. And it worked very well–ALMOST. I didn’t crave the nicotine–the patch & pill took care of that. What I missed was the physical sensation of inhaling the smoke. Since you can’t smoke and continue to wear the patch I took off the patch, bought a pack and continued to smoke for another month while searching for answers.

I found a tobacco shop that sold non-nicotine herbal cigarettes and bought them. Now in all honesty they tasted rather nasty, but they satisfied that urge to inhale. At the same time I de-sensitized myself to my "triggers," you know–get in the car light up a cigarette. Fire up the ‘puter light up a cigarette. Finish dinner–smoke for dessert. Every time I thought about lighting up I just told myself I don’t do that any more and gradually the triggers became meaningless to me. I’m convinced that the addiction is at least as much mental as it is physical. And gradually I got away from those stinky herbal ciggies too.

There are a couple of ways to use the patch and one of them is to just change it every 24 hours. I went through the first box of them and then stepped down to the lower level of nicotine with the next box. One day I was at work and it occured to me that I had forgotten to change my patch. For a split second I felt trapped, but then I thought about it. If I was only just now thinking about it (8 or 9 hours after the fact) then I obviously didn’t need them anymore and I never used one again. Looking back I guess that was the defining moment when I realized I had done it!

Anyway–I hope you find perhaps some useful info in this answer. I love being a non-smoker! Good luck to you.

Has anyone heard of Allen Carrs easy way to stop smoking?

Im trying to quit smoking and heard a lot of good things about a book by Allen Carr (Not the Comedian) called the easyway to stop smoking, what are your thoughts about it? does it actually work?

Yes it does actually work. It costs about the same as 2 boxes of smokes. Well worth it as it explains addiction, how nicoteen works and how you overcome it.
I’d recommend it to anyone.
